Laskaridis Foundation Archives
Developing a modern digital archive infrastructure for one of Greece’s most significant cultural foundations.
Overview
The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation holds an extensive and historically significant wealth of collections and archival material. Embracing contemporary digital preservation practices, the Foundation systematically digitizes, documents, and provides open access to its collections.
For this project, we were responsible for the full technical implementation of the archival platform. We developed and customized the OMEKA S repository, structured the data architecture, implemented APIs for interoperability and future integrations, and ensured scalability aligned with international digital humanities standards.
In parallel, we built a modern React-based frontend, transforming complex archival data into an accessible and intuitive user experience. The frontend visual design was created by Synthesee, and we translated the design system into a high-performance, responsive web application fully connected to the OMEKA S backend.
The result is a robust, extensible digital archive platform that supports open access, long-term preservation, and advanced research capabilities.
